Our day began in Coeur d’ Alene Idaho early. We are headed to the Portland area en-route to Newport Oregon tomorrow to stay at Pacific Shores.
We made a quick run into Spokane and then headed diagonally south on US 395 and across the Oregon border. Due west, we were greeted by Mount Hood. The trip along the Columbia River was amazing. It has to be one of the prettiest interstate highways in the US.
A few years ago we spent a week in the area on the Columia River Gorge side. Amazing except for the campground. We stayed at a KOA on the river. We wondered why there was a big no-refund sign in the lobby. We went to sleep and quickly realized that our site was about 15 yards from the mainline of the railroad..Oh Well! sleep isn’t everything! This time we are planning to stay somewhere quiet. Maybe a truck stop 🙂
